Welcome to our Komen Race for the Cure® team Aida page! As a member of team Aida, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® end breast cancer forever.
Aida is the mom of the team captain. She will be turning 80 years old in November and does not look very different from this picture taken 3 years ago. She is a very energetic mother of three and grandmother of seven, who has instilled in all of us a passion for life, travel, hard work, respect for others and a positive outlook on life.
Aida found out she had a small breast nodule that turned out to be cancer through a regular mammogram earlier this Summer. She underwent a very successful surgery last month and is recovering nicely. The lump was so small she never even felt it.
During the last few decades, research has made a tremendous difference on the outcome of a breast cancer diagnosis. Regular check-ups are invaluable for early detection and successful stories, yet many women in our communities cannot afford or understand the importance of these early screenings.
We are a group of friends from the San Francisco Bay Area. We are moms, corporate america workers, scholars, volunteers, athletes, or all of the above. Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. And we will not stop until this disease is gone forever. That’s our promise. Will you please join us in this fight by running/walking with us or making a donation today?
Leave an encouraging note for the team!
